History

In 1969 Fred Weituschat, a former producer at Wilding Studios in Chicago formed his own company and in 1972 was incorporated as Weituschat & Associates. Clients included well known firms such as Walt Disney, General Electric & Lions Club International. As the production business grew, Audio Visual Systems was formed in 1979 as a rental house to serve a growing market for rental equipment.

In 1984, Audio Visual Systems moved from its location on the far north side to be closer to it’s clients to a location just west of Chicago’s Loop. As the West Loop neighborhood changed, and began it’s redevelopment in the early 2000s, AVS moved to it’s present location at 315 South Green Street in the heart of Greektown and the West Loop.

In the late 1990s As technology evolved and prices began to fall into the realm of ownership for most companies, Audio Visual Systems shifted its primary focus from the rental and production business, to the custom systems integration business. This remains our core focus to this date. AVS serves corporate, governmental and educational institutions with services and products geared toward presentations.

In 2004, Fred passed away and the torch was passed to his son Rob Weituschat.  Rob has taken the reins of the company and continues to keep it’s business relevant to the ever changing technology landscape.

AVS remains true to it’s roots and continues to operate a full service event staging department as well as a will-call rental department.
